The
choice to pursue your Postgraduate
degree means a better salary and higher
position in the workplace. If you are changing
positions, be sure that your Postgraduate degree
does not make others assume you are too overqualified
for a choice position. Postgraduate degrees are
recognition of the highest level of educational
study that can be attained in the U.S. and are
usually pursued for a specific professional reason.
Postgraduate degrees can be obtained in almost
any course of study and consist mostly of individual
research or study. A published thesis to prove
your understanding of the course material is usually
the last requirement before receiving a Postgraduate
degree. Postgraduate degrees are more commonly
known as Doctorates and require that you possess
a Master's Degree. Some professions such as College
and University professors, or doctors, require
that you have a Postgraduate Degree while others
simply use it as a reason for promotion. The Postgraduate
Degree can be achieved either through online courses
or on a college campus, but little to no classroom
work will be a part of the degree program.
